LAST DAYS' STRUGGLE REPORT (서울, 南朝鮮, 01.19)

First of all since today you can see a very impressive documentary about the struggle of the activists in 삼각/수하동(을지로 2-가) made by 숲속홍길동. You can watch it here.
Before yesterday, January 17, a protest rally and demonstration took place to support the people in Wolgok-dong(Seongbuk-gu/district).

Here the activists since long time are defending their homes - the same old f... story: the Construction Mafia(C.M.) wants to build new apartment blocks and the former residents, who only rented houses/flats there will be kicked out, because the owners of the houses already sold their buildings and land to the C.M.
On the rally about 60 activists from different areas, such as Osan, Cheongjin-dong, Yeongsan 5-dong, but also some activists from NOHAK(Student Solidarity for the Liberation of the Working Class) gathered in the early afternoon in front of Seongbuk-gu (district) Office.
The rally was followed by a demonstration to Jongam Police Station, where the persons are sitting, who are responsible for the ongoing free attacks of criminal gangs, hired be C.M. and backed by the riot cops.
Yesterday in the evening a protest was held in front of Seoul's Kyobo building near Gwanghwamun to support the struggle against a huge highway project leading through the Cheonseong-san (mountain).

Here, if the project get reality many species, such as the Korean Salamander are in great danger. Also here the same old f... story: the capitalist aim of maximize the profits is destroying everything and everywhere, no matter if it the environment or areas were "ordinary" peoples are living and working since centuries, such as in Cheongjin-dong. Today Ji Yul, a Buddhist female monk, is in her 84th day of hunger strike against the project.

Even the weather was not really comfortable, we had the entire time a really icy wind, the organizers of the rally (Friends of the Korean Salamander/도롱뇽의 친구들) managed a great program: Of course there was a open microphone for the voices of "ordinary" citizens, but also the cultural and political(Dopehead, Acomda, a dancing group of female irregular workers, ETU-MB...) contributions got enthusiastic applause from the audience.
