...for 32 days - has declared a halt to the hunger strike. Comrade Kim Deuk-joong posted a message on his Facebook page saying, "Today, after 32 days, I'll stop my hunger strike. But the struggle goes on!!" Kim has been on a hunger strike in front of Ssangyong Motor plant in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi Province since March 1. (source: VoP, 4.01)

His (hunger)strike demands were the following: Reinstate the 120 dismissed Ssangyong Motor workers! Drop the damages claims suits against the union and workers! Uncover the truth behind the State-sponsored violence against the Ssangyong Motor workers during the 2009 strike and ensure redress for workers whose human rights were violated and punishment of those responsible for the state-sponsored violence!

And the demands are still the same! Because - as comrade Kim Deuk-joon vowed - THE STRUGGLE GOES ON(until victory)!!

Two days earlier(3.30) comrade Chong Hye-won wrote the following: We have just confirmed from Hwasung Prison that former KCTU president HAN Sang-gyun is on the 3rd day of a hunger strike begun in prison on March 28th to support the demands of the KMWU Ssangyong Motor Branch fighting for justice. Today, as India's Mahindra & Mahindra Managing Director Pawan Goenka visits Korea for the Ssangyong Motor shareholders meeting, the Ssangyong Motor Branch Chair KIM Deuk-Joong - on the 30th day of a hunger strike calling for justice for dismissed Ssangyong Motor workers - received a hand written letter...

 

 

...by snail mail from former KCTU President HAN Sang-gyun in prison. Former president HAN wrote that he will continue comrades KIM's hunger strike from prison and requests Ssangyong Motor Branch Chair to stop the hunger strike...
