Two days ago(9.23) Yonhap reported the following: Thousands of unionized workers across the country walked out of their workplaces Wednesday to protest the implementation of a trilateral commission's recent deal on labor reform. About 5,000 unionized workers from the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions (KCTU), one of South Korea's two labor umbrella groups, joined the one-day strike opposing the plan to reform the labor market in what they call a management-friendly way, the Namdaemun Police Station said...
In the interests of clarity: There wasn't any KCTU strike - let alone a "general strike" - on that day(except the ongoing wage dispute @Hyundai Motor)!! KCTU's so-called "9.23 General Strike" was just a 'struggle' rally/demo(*) "to protest the implementation of a trilateral commission's recent deal on labor reform", joined by 10,000(according to the independent media/4,500~5,500 according to the cops and the S.K. bourgeois media) labour activists...
But it was a "wonderful opportunity" for the S. Korean 'authorities', represented by the riot cops, to go hog wild...

Today's Korea Times reported the following:
South Korea will propose tougher sanctions against North Korea at the United Nations if Pyongyang makes military provocations next month, Cheong Wa Dae officials said Wednesday.
"President Park Geun-hye plans to send a warning to North Korea about possible provocations and call for international support in her U.N. speech on Sept. 28," an official said, declining to be named.
Park is scheduled to deliver a keynote speech at the 70th U.N. General Assembly in New York during her visit there from Sept. 25 to 28...
She is expected to ask the U.N. Security Council (UNSC) to add general goods on the list of items that are prohibited for export to North Korea, according to Cheong Wa Dae officials...
