1960.3.21: The Massacre in Sharpeville
Today marks the 50th anniversary of the day that changed the course of the South African history. When police forces hunted and a short while later opened fire on thousands of unarmed fleeing protesters, killing 69 and injuring at least 180...
...they inadvertently provided a catalyst for decades of (armed) liberation struggle and forced the rest of the world to confront the iniquity of apartheid. White minority rule finally collapsed in 1994. Two years later it was in Sharpeville that the country's first black president, Nelson Mandela, signed a new constitution.

The representatives of five social-democratic parties - two "left"-wing (DLP and NPP) and three right-wing (DP, CKP and PPP - offshoots from the former ruling 'Yeollin Uri'-dang, led by Roh Moo-hyun) - and their entourage prepared for the collaboration...
Yeah, that's really a "democratic/progressive alternative" for S. Korea's future!!!(^^)
About 60 Democratic Labor Party (DLP) members clashed yesterday(2.07) morning with police investigators, backed by about 750 riot cops, as the inquisitors raided the KT Internet center in Seongnam City/Bundang (Gyeonggi Province) to seize more computer servers belonging to the DLP to investigate "political activities by public servants and teachers" (*):
