The clan of the killed General threatened to take revenge on the new authorities of Libya and the Islamists

There were some rumors that the rats entered Bani walid and that there is fighting in the streets. The truth is that the major fight was given 40 km away from the west gate of Bani walid. Our army has tought a good lesson to the rats, dozens of cars were destroyed and the death toll among the rats exeeds the number of 60.
In addition in the area between the area from Bani walid to Sabha, more than 130 rats were killed after clashes with the volunteers of the al Magarha tribe.

While Nicolas Sarkozy (who is an agent of the CIA) and David Cameron showed himself yesterday at Benghazi, intense fighting continued in Sirte, Breguet and Ras Lanuf. Islamist commander sees Libyan fighters keeping weapons

(Reuters) - Fighters who toppled dictator Muammar Gaddafi in Libya's uprising will keep their weapons for now to aid in security, an Islamist commander said.
Many are expected to leave their units, given the end of major combat operations, while those who stay could accept command from the nascent defense ministry, brigade leader Abduljawad Bedeen said in an interview.
"A large percentage want to return to civilian life, and I wouldn't be surprised if individuals chose to be part of the army," he told Reuters. "As units we are not opposed to coming under the umbrella of the army -- our main goal is to serve our country."
"What we don't want to see is a public relations event where fighters turn in their arms for the cameras," said Bedeen, who is also spokesman for the Union of Revolutionary Forces that encompasses some 25,000 fighters from Libya's east.
The Union aims to incorporate brigades in the rest of the country under its command, and its leader, deputy defense minister Fawzi Bukatif, has said those who remain outside should be considered illegitimate.
Trouble may be brewing in parts of Libya where disgruntled and armed civilians are growing increasingly suspicious of their interim rulers' attempts to bring law and order to a country awash with weapons.
Bedeen, once a member of the Libyan Islamic Fighting Group (LIFG), a now-defunct organization that waged a failed insurgency against Gaddafi in the 1990s and was classified as terrorists by the United States, said militias must hold on to arms to prevent pro-Gaddafi forces from attempting to regroup.
"Let us say that we gave up our weapons today -- if the pro-Gaddafi forces took over not only Sabha, but also went to other cities -- I don't think the national army could contain such a threat alone," he said.
For now, Gaddafi loyalists have little hope of reinstalling the dictator's regime, with his armed forces crushed and most of his family in exile or dead.
But the faction-plagued National Transitional Council (NTC) is struggling to deal with some of the country's more remote areas such as the restive town of Sabha, in a southern region where Gaddafi spent part of his youth.
Bedeen said that his brigade had been asked by Sabha notables to establish security there, but that the NTC was dragging its feet to give approval for the action. He pointed to his men's reputation as Islamists as a reason for the delay.
"We will not go without an official request from the NTC. Because in our experience we are often accused of doing something wrong.
"I wouldn't be surprised if we went there and the next day on the news heard we were accused of sending weapons to al-Qaeda in Algeria."
WANT SHARIA APPLIED
Many now wonder what version of political Islam fighters inspired by religion will seek to bring to the country.
Most of the fighters, who often went into combat shouting "God is greatest," are devout Muslims and many could be considered Islamists, Bedeen said. But he sees their political goals as moderate.
"It's difficult to say they have one way of thought or political agenda, but I can definitely say there is a large percentage of Islamists.... I did not see anyone with a secular agenda."
"A large percentage of the fighters want the sharia applied and a constitution that does not conflict with it," he said, referring to Islamic law. "I think all Libyans want this, not just the Islamists."
Libya, with a population of six million, is almost completely Sunni Muslim and religiously conservative, but there are varied views on Islam's role in the new era.
As in other countries which have seen revolts in the so-called Arab Spring, political Islam has seen a resurgence in Libya, but Islamist statements about sharia or religion in politics are only rough indicators of what lies ahead politically.
Many Middle Eastern constitutions already enshrine Islam as the official religion and mention sharia as the basis of law, but also have civil and penal codes based on European models. Islamists in Libya say the new system should be inclusive and acceptable even to non-Muslims.
Bedeen, who lived for years in exile across the Arab world and was eventually extradited to Libya and jailed for his opposition to Gaddafi, said he did not think al-Qaeda could implant itself in Libya.
"If they were to send people here they would have a very, very weak presence... I don't think the Libyan people would accept it."
Some members of the LIFG organization to which he once belonged are believed by Western officials to have helped young men in the Arab diaspora to travel to Iraq to fight. But the group rejected overtures by al-Qaeda and its leaders have publicly denounced extremism.
As for the black Islamic battle flags seen carried by some Libyan fighters, Bedeen says these have noting to do with support for al-Qaeda, which has flown similar flags in Iraq. Officially, revolutionary units only fly the pre-Gaddafi Libyan flag but they do not oppose individual expression.
"First of all, al-Qaeda doesn't even have an official flag. And just because they've used a similar one doesn't mean they have exclusive rights to it," he said.

훨씬 더 복잡한 문제입니다. 리비아 혁명 세력 내부에 다양한 입장들이 있기 때문에 리비아 혁명을 어떻게 볼 것인가의 문제가 첨예하게 대립되는 것입니다. 이것은 가다피가 독재자냐, 반제국주의자냐 하는 문제보다 훨씬 더 심각한 문제입니다.

반군이 벵가지를 점령하고 나서 이 지역에서 용병 혹은 용병으로 의심되는 흑인들을 고문, 처형하고 여자들에게 부르카를 입으라고 강요한 사실이 밝혀졌습니다. LFIG는 엄연히 알카에다 북아프리카지부입니다.

이슬람주의자들에게 순교자가 되는 것은 대단한 명예입니다. 자본주의 사회에서 살고 있는 사람들에게 명예는 그렇게 중요하지 않습니다. 하지만 이 사람들은 다릅니다. 전사에게는 명예가 가장 중요한 겁니다. 애시당초 무기를 들고 싸운다는 발상 자체가 타흐리르 광장에 모인 대중들과는 뭔가 다르다는 걸 말해주는겁니다.
“카다피가 반란을 제국주의나 이슬람주의자의 선동이라고 주장하지만 그리고 그렇게 말할 수 있는 근거가 없지는 않지만, 기본적으로 리비아 민중이 항쟁에 나선 것은 카다피에 의해 차별받고 배제된 대다수 민중의 삶의 고통의 문제입니다. 카다피는 특정 부족과 지역 그리고 혁명위원회의 성원에게 특혜를 주었지만 기본적으로 그들은 혜택받은 소수입니다.”
리비아는 분명히 경찰국가이고 자유를 억압했지만 또 한편으로는 민중의 복지에 많은 신경을 썼습니다. 트리폴리와 벵가지는 오랜 반목의 역사를 갖고 있고 벵가지가 오래동안 차별을 당한 것은 엄연한 사실이지만 차별당한 사람들이 가다피 세력보다 더 진보적이라는 것을 보장해주지는 않습니다.

문제는 기층민중으로 구성된 반군세력의 지도부가 이슬람 세력이라는 겁니다. 이들은 매우 정당한 이유로 가다피와 싸운 사람들조차도 믿지 않는 경향이 있습니다. 이들은 서로 다른 대의를 위해서 싸우며 후자는 전투 도중에 죽어야만 비로소 순교자 즉 동지의 대우를 받을 수 있습니다.

결론적으로 말씀드리면 가다피를 독재자로 보는 입장이든 반제국주의자로 보는 입장이든 이 사실에서 출발해서 리비아 혁명세력을 규정한다면 그것은 적의 적은 친구다라는 도식일 뿐입니다. 리비아 혁명세력은 하나의 일치된 이데올로기를 갖고 있는 집단이 아니며 이들이 누구인지는 앞으로 밝혀질것입니다.

Al Qaeda Acquiring Weapons In Libya: Algerian Official

ALGIERS (Reuters) - Al Qaeda is exploiting the conflict in Libya to acquire weapons, including surface-to-air missiles, and smuggle them to a stronghold in northern Mali, a senior security official in neighboring Algeria told Reuters.
Western governments have demanded that Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi step down after his forces cracked down on a revolt against his rule, but some governments in the region are nervous that al Qaeda could step into a power vacuum.
Algeria, which has been fighting al Qaeda's north African wing for years and closely monitors insurgent activity across north Africa and the Sahara, says there are already signs that this is happening.
Algeria's government has watched with concern as its eastern neighbors have been convulsed by popular uprisings, and is anxious that discontent over living conditions and limits on political freedoms could spark a similar revolt.
Security officials took the rare step of voicing their concerns about Libya to the foreign media because they are worried that events there could reverse their gains in keeping a lid on al Qaeda inside the country.
The senior official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said a convoy of eight Toyota pick-up trucks left eastern Libya, crossed into Chad and then Niger, and from there into northern Mali where in the past few days it delivered a cargo of weapons.
The weapons included Russian-made RPG-7 anti-tank rocket-propelled grenades, Kalashnikov heavy machine guns, Kalashnikov rifles, explosives and ammunition, he said.
He also said he had information that Al Qaeda's north African wing, known as al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM) had acquired from Libya Russian-made shoulder-fired Strela surface-to-air missiles known by the NATO designation SAM-7.
"We know that this is not the first convoy and that it is still ongoing," the official told Reuters.
"Several military barracks have been pillaged in this region (eastern Libya) with their arsenals and weapons stores and the elements of AQIM who were present could not have failed to profit from this opportunity."
"AQIM, which has maintained excellent relations with smugglers who used to cross Libya from all directions without the slightest difficulty, will probably give them the task of bringing it the weapons," said the official.
The official made no suggestion that the Libyan government was supplying weapons to al Qaeda.
SECURITY WORRIES
Algeria has spent most of the past two decades fighting an Islamist insurgency inside its own borders. The violence has subsided, but officials believe instability in neighboring Libya could allow the insurgency to flare up again.
Security officials in north Africa and beyond say the best way to contain al Qaeda is to keep a tight rein on the availability of weapons and stop insurgents crossing desert borders -- measures jeopardized by Libya's revolt.
"The Algerians are very, very worried, and with good reason," a Western diplomat told Reuters.
Algerian Prime Minister Ahmed Ouyahia, discussing the Libya conflict last week, said that the government was concerned about the implications for the fight against al Qaeda.
The interior minister, Daho Ould Kablia, last month said that an AQIM operative was arrested in the Sahara desert after crossing the border from Libya.
Algeria's government opposed the Western-led military intervention in Libya, with Foreign Minister Mourad Medelci saying air strikes on Libya were "disproportionate."
ANOTHER SOMALIA?
Samer Riad, a journalist with Algeria's El Khabar newspaper who specializes in security issues, said there was a danger al Qaeda could capitalize on the conflict in Libya in the same way it did in Somalia.
"Transforming Libya into a Somalia is very easy. All the coalition has to do is turn a blind eye to AQIM's activity in Libya now," he said.
The Algerian security official said al Qaeda was exploiting disarray among forces loyal to Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi but had also infiltrated the anti-Gaddafi rebels in eastern Libya.
"We understand that AQIM is evolving with ease among the rebels and is taking advantage to acquire the most sophisticated weapons such as SAM-7s (surface-to-air missiles)," said the official.
Libya's rebel administration says suggestions it is linked to al Qaeda are a "fallacy" which plays into the hands of Gaddafi, who has said the people who revolted against his rule are al Qaeda militants.
But a senior NATO commander has acknowledged the presence of "flickers" of al Qaeda among the anti-Gaddafi rebels in eastern Libya, though he stressed the group did not play a significant role.
The Algerian security official said Western states had to realize that if Gaddafi's government fell, al Qaeda could exploit the resulting chaos to extend its influence to the Mediterranean coast, just a few km (miles) from Europe.
"If the Gaddafi regime goes, it is the whole of Libya -- in terms of a country which has watertight borders and security and customs services which used to control these borders -- which will disappear, at least for a good time, long enough for AQIM to re-deploy as far as the Libyan Mediterranean."
"The coalition forces must make an urgent choice. To allow chaos to settle in ... or to preserve the Libyan regime, with or without Gaddafi, to restore the pre-uprising security situation," the official told Reuters.
