Only a few hundred metres further to the North, a memorial on a meadow on the bank of the Neue See (New Lake) commemorates Karl Liebknecht’s murder. He was Rosa Luxemburg’s comrade and a cofounder of the KPD (German Kommunist Party). Both the memorials and the Lichtenstein Bridge were designed by the architect couple, Ralf Schüler and Ursulina Schüler-Witte in the late eighties.
