명동 '재개발' 구역의 시행사는 3구역 합의가 끝나자마자 추석임에도 공사를 강행하고, 야간작업으로 소음과 먼지가 심하게 발생해도 이에대해서 전혀 대책을 준비하지 않았습니다. 야만적 철거 재개발은 계속될 것이고, 우리의 투쟁도 더욱 강해질 것입니다.

Yesterday evening the struggle tenants of Myeong-dong's 'Cafe Mari' reached an agreement with the "developing" and the construction company (Mafia). But as we know, they got an acceptable compensation only, but no really alternate place in the nearer neighborhood.(AND whether the compensation was acceptable is itself an unsolved mystery) And of course they'll get no place in the planned buildings.

The possible reason why they gave up so fast (we wanted to struggle until the bitter end!!):

1. They were completely inexperienced and unorganized.

2. The enduring attack by the gangsters really scared them.

3. Possibly they also were overchallenged by our kind of solidarity??!!

4. Physically challenged and tired by various pressures(e.g. lawsuits), they were driven to give up(only part of the process, though).

Anyway, today in the morning we had to clean the struggle center ('Cafe Mari') and in the early afternoon after a short press conference we left it and went into "exile"(^^), just around the corner(Myeong-dong 13gil).

Later in the early evening we decided to move some meters up in the direction of Myeong-dong Cathedral. And possibly here we'll stay until the 'bitter' end...

To cut a long story short today was not a successful day for us, not really!

Like last Thursday a crane truck, in order of Daewoo Construction (Mafia) tried to enter the Myeong-dong "redevelopment" area to continue the demolition of buildings close to our struggle center ('Cafe Mari').

Well, for the first two hours - from 06:00am(KST) until 08:00am - we were able to block the shit. At 08:00 the truck left the site and we - very happy to sleep few hours more - went back to our struggle center('Cafe Mari').

But only three hours later we'd to learn that ultimatey the truck entered its destination and was already prepared to start the demolition process. At around noon two of our comrades, backed by about 40 activists/supporters just occupied the crane. But of course only a short while later the riot cops(at least 120) moved in and punctually(^^) to supper time(06:00pm KST) they finished our "performance"(i.e. protest).

The final result: Five(*) of our comrades, incl. four MDLF activists were arrested(they're are still in custody) and at least one person was taken by the ambulance to a hospital. Here some impressions(chronologically arranged) from today's "events" in Myeong-dong:

* According to Yonhap: Seven actvists were arrested, incl. two supporting organized street vendors.

일때문에 밤을 새고 4시쯤 잠들려고 했는데 4:30분 부터 핸폰이 울렸습니다.

 

 

어제 포이동 강제철거 소식때문에 마리에서 연대하는 많은 분들이 포이동에 지원을 가서 마리에 사람이 15명-20명정도 밖에 없었습니다.

 

 

4:30용역 200명이 고작 15명정도 있었던 마리 세입자들과 연대하는 사람들을 내쫓고 집기들을 부수었습니다.

 

 

저는 5시에 마리에 도착하여, 여섯차례 계속 경찰에 신고했지만 아침 9시 까지 경찰은 나타나지 않았습니다. (결국 순찰차가 저 멀리서 구경하고 도망갔음)

 

악기들이 부수어지고 시사만화연대가 그린 작품현수막들을 찢어 훔쳐갔습니다.

 

그리고 마리 옆 건물을 철거하기 시작했습니다.

 

대치중에 용역들이 현수막을 싣고 도망가는 도중 마찰이 있었고 명동1구역 세입자가 용역에게폭행을 당하였습니다

 

새벽 철거-야간철거는 법으로 금지되어있습니다.

 

용역 깡패 비호하는 경찰, 세입자를 나몰라라 하는  서울시를 규탄하는 

글을 홈페이지와 서울시 홈페이지에 규탄 메세지를 남겨주시기 바랍니다!! 

 

200명의 용역은 아직도 마리와 그 옆골목을 꽉 채우고 있습니다.

이것이 우리나라의 지금 초상입니다.

 

오늘 오후7시 기업은행 대우건설 용역깡패 비호 경찰 규탄 문화제를 합니다.

 

잠시 라도 연대해주세요 지금 서울의 도심은 전쟁터입니다.

 

가난하고 힘 약한자들을 오늘, 그리고 오늘 새벽에 지켜주세요 오늘 저 용역을 쫓아내지 못하면

Gangsters evicted tenants 

 

11 Poor tenants were evicted by Daewoo Cooperations and IBK(Industrial Bank of Korea) on2nd of April. 

Those big cooperations are planning 'Financial Street' on that area.

 

Since 4th of June, the tenants have been squatting a place called cafe Mari( a cafe owned by one of the tenants)

Many students and citizens and artists are banded together with the tenants. 

Since 4th of June gangsters tried to beat people or destroyed the building but it wasn't easy because many people back up for the tenants. 

 

But today IBK and Daewoo hired 200 gangsters to beat people.

They destroyed Mari cafe and sitting in the cafe since 4:30 am. 

We reported to police  but they didn't come. 

This is a reality of South Korea.
