A totalitarian phony and deceitful dilettante has managed to get elected to the US presidency. Donald Trump is an epochal disaster that won't just change his vast country and its democracy for many years to come. The entire world will feel the effects of this aberration. Many thought it was a joke when Trump announced his candidacy last year. Go ahead, many thought, as long as it's fun for him -- and for us. That was almost one-and-a-half years ago, and today, nobody is laughing anymore. Now, a racist sexual predator, a pathological liar and an excitable egomaniac holds power in the United States -- a sickening outcome for all those who believe in democracy and human rights... A large rally calling for President Park Geun-hye's resignation will be staged in central Seoul on Saturday. The protest, led by progressive civic groups, will be in Gwanghwamun Square, in downtown Seoul, from 4 p.m. Tens of thousands of people are expected to take part. An estimated 20,000 people participated in the first anti-Park rally last Saturday. Police expect the second rally will attract about 30,000 people, while organizers are forecasting a crowd of 100,000...(K. Times, 11.4)
After President Park Geun-hye’s mea culpa Friday, eyes are fixed on the upcoming rally in Seoul on Saturday for any sign of a shift in public sentiment toward the embattled leader. Police predict some 40,000 participants for the second major rally since the Choi Soon-sil scandal surfaced. It is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. in Gwanghwamun Square in central Seoul. Latest news: A protest calling for President Park Geun-hye's resignation will be staged daily in downtown Seoul from Tuesday. The nonstop rally will continue through Nov. 12.
Organizers, mostly progressive civic groups, said the candlelight vigil-style protest will begin at Cheonggye Plaza from 7 p.m. They said a large-scale protest is planned on Nov. 5 and Nov. 12, which will call for Park's resignation and a thorough investigation of the Choi Soon-sil scandal.
On top of this, the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions, one of the biggest umbrella unions here, said it will hold an emergency meeting Wednesday to discuss its own demand for Park's resignation...(source: Korea Times, 11.1)
