Y'day(12.18) afternoon(KST) in central Seoul:
세계이주민의 날을 맞아 국내 이주노동자들이 한 목소리로 고용허가제 폐지와 사업장 이동의 자유보장을 촉구했다.
이주노동조합, 민주노총 등은 18일 오후2시 서울 광화문광장에서 이주노동자 결의대회를 열고 <10년이 넘도록 고용허가제 폐지해달라 외치고 있지만 관련 법·정책은 하나도 변하지 않았다.>면서 <고용허가제를 폐지해 이주노동자에게 사업장 이동의 자유와 출국 전 퇴직금 지급 등의 노동권을 보장해달라.>고 요구했다.
우다야 라이이주노조위원장은 <고용허가제 개정은 이뤄지지 않고 있는데 사업장에선 노동법까지 무시되면서 착취가 일상화한 실정>이라며 <한국사회에서 이주노동자는 쓰다버리는 물처럼 취급받는다.>고 비판했다.
집회에 참가한 이주노동자들은 자유발언을 통해 박근혜<정부>에 대한 이주노동자정책을 비판하면서 사업장에 대한 근로감독 등을 강화할 것을 촉구했다.
2004년부터 시행된 고용허가제는 외국인노동자에게 국내 노동자들과 동등한 고용조건을 보장하도록 제정된 법률이다.
결의대회에 앞서 조계종 사회노동위원회는 사망 이주노동자 추모제를 개최했다...(source: 진보노동뉴스, 12.19)

Hundreds of thousands of South Koreans held a massive rally to call for scandal-hit President Park Geun-hye to immediately step down and the Constitutional Court to promptly carry out its impeachment trial. Organized by some 1,500 civic groups, the rally marked the eighth of its kind, and the second since the National Assembly voted last Friday to impeach Park over a corruption and influence-peddling scandal involving her and her longtime friend Choi Soon-sil. Today's Korea Times reported the following: An appeals court sentenced Han Sang-gyun, head of the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions (KCTU), to three years in jail and fines of 500,000 won ($430), Tuesday, cutting his five-year prison sentence imposed by a lower court...(more you can read here)
KCTU's (short)comment(via facebook): The court once again ruled base on a political motivation. The Seoul High Court sentenced 3 years' imprisonment and 500,000 KRW of fine against KCTU president Han Sang-gyun. It is still maintaining that all the measures taken by the police during the Mass Moblization og Nov 14, 2015 were legitimate, but a little "excessive". This ruling is still not in line with the principle of Freedom of Peaceful Assembly. Free Han Sang-gyun!!!!!(KCTU's press release in Korean you can read here)

It has been exactly one year since the KCTU president was arrested. He is still in JAIL and today, on occasion of the Int'l Human Rights Day we demand once again his immediate release. High court will hand down its verdict and sentence on Dec 13(Tue.)... But it's Park Geun-hye(PGH), not Han Sang-gyun, who should be in jail!(source: KCTU, 12.10 via facebook)

Last night(KST) Yonhap News reported: Hundreds of thousands of South Koreans held a candlelight vigil in a celebrative mood on Saturday as parliament has voted to impeach President Park Geun-hye over a massive political scandal. Braving cold weather, protesters took to the streets demanding Park's imminent resignation for the seventh week, but this time, a more festive mood was felt as the National Assembly approved a motion to impeach Park a day earlier...(more you can read here)
Today's Hankyoreh wrote the following: The candles will never stop burning. The seventh candlelight rally that was held the day after the motion for President Park Geun-hye’s impeachment was passed was attended by 800,000 people in Seoul and 1.04 million people around South Korea. As of 8:30 pm on Dec. 10, the group organizing the demonstration (called the Emergency Public Campaign for the Resignation of President Park Geun-hye) estimated that 800,000 people had assembled in Seoul...(more you can read here)

That's why the "Candlelight revolution"...
...must lead to the "destruction of the old system"! That's the reason why we must try to establish a new kind of democracy, based & created by the PEOPLE!!
