From Wednesday(9.06) afternoon until y'day morning in Soseong-ri(Seongju-gun, Gyeongbuk-do): Dozens of South Korean protesters have been injured in clashes with police over the full deployment of a controversial US missile defence system intended to counter attacks from North Korea. According to South Korean media, 38 people, including six police officers, were injured in the village nearby Seongju, 300km south of Seoul, as preparations were made to install four further terminal high-altitude area defence (THAAD) system batteries at a golf course in the village...(source: Guardian, 9.07)

Before the official announcement of the deployment schedule Wednesday, activists and protestors opposing the weapon system started to converge in Seongju to block the launchers’ arrival in the area. “Four additional THAAD launchers will be brought into Seongju early tomorrow (Thursday) morning,” a protestors’ group said in a text message sent out to residents and activists before 3 p.m., citing multiple tipoffs about the deployment schedule. “We ask all of you to gather here by 6 p.m.”(K. Today's Yonhap News reported the following: A Seoul court on Tuesday dismissed local residents' request to temporarily invalidate the government's offering of land to host a U.S. missile defense system.
In April, 396 people filed an administrative suit against the provision of a former golf course in Seongju County, North Gyeongsang Province, to U.S. Forces Korea, claiming that it is a violation of the law on state-owned land. The also asked the court to suspend the land provision pending the trial.
The Seoul Administrative Court turned down their request for suspension. The court said the ownership of the land for the installation of the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) belongs to the state and that it is a public asset to be used for military purposes, not by the public...(more you can read here)
