The background story, provited by Yonhap News(7.15): Police seized the website servers of a progressive teachers' union on Tuesday as part of an investigation into alleged illegal political activity by its members.
A team of officers from Seoul's Jongno Police Station confiscated servers containing online posts and emails written by members of the Korean Teachers and Education Workers Union (KTU) between May 1 and July 2.
"The raid was conducted to collect data on their illegal activities," a police officer said. "The data will also help identify which members took part in political rallies denouncing the President Park Geun-hye administration"...(more you'll get here/and on LabourStart you can read some related reports in Korean)
Meanwhile KTU filed today a petition with the national human rights watchdog, demanding the education ministry cancel moves to discipline and seek the criminal punishment of union members for taking part in political protest...(more you can read here)

Today's Yonhap News reported the following: Family members of the victims of April's ferry disaster started a hunger strike Monday, demanding an early adoption of a special law aimed at shedding light on the cause of the incident that left more than 300 people dead or missing... "Fifteen family members of the Sewol ferry victims began a hunger strike at the Gwanghwamun Square and in front of the main building of the National Assembly," an association representing the families said at a press conference held in front of the National Assembly. The families asked that the special law be enacted by July 24, which marks the 100th day since the disaster, because progress at the parliament has been slow due to bipartisan disputes. The association said it will hand over a list of signatures gathered from a nationwide campaign to the parliament and launch a parade...
