Y'day afternoon: The "4th Nationwide Peace Action" took place in Soseong-ri(Seongju-gun, Gyeongbuk-do) and activsts from all across S. Korea joined the event to protest the ongoing THAAD deployment there...
Amid 800 people gathering in the small village of Soseong-ri, the statement reads, "The [Moon Jae-in] government is pushing a deceptive measuring of electro magnetic waves and discussion while appeasing and separating residents." "The government also tries to nail THAAD by announcing to deploy four more THAAD launchers." "All these are betrayal to the candles held by people who aspire to liquidate all deep-rooted evils ." "The government is violating procedural justice itself." They added, "We strongly demand the government to open the way for the withdrawal of THAAD through re-examination on the matter of THAAD from the beginning. If the government pushes to deploy four more launchers, we will fight to the end."(source: NO THAAD in South Korea!)

Despite heavy rain, people gathered in areas throughout Seoul to make their voices heard on various diplomatic, military and political issues, Tuesday, marking the 72nd anniversary of Korea's liberation from Japan's 1910-45 occupation. Amid heightened tension among neighboring states and allies, around 10,000 activists gathered at Seoul Plaza to demand the withdrawal of a Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) battery, as well as the halting of Korea-U.S. military drills...(source: Korea Times, 8.15)
Thousands of protesters packed the streets near Seoul City Hall in a rally that started at 3:30 p.m., calling on the Moon administration to scrap the deployment of the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense system. “The deployment of THAAD should be pulled back as it is of no use to defend South Korea,” one of the rally organizers said on a podium at the square... “The US has recently increased tensions on the Korean Peninsula, voicing out threats of military action (against North Korea), but no one has the right to take military action here, and the threats must stop now,” the organizer told the crowd...(source, K.
