A temple association for the Jogye Temple in Seoul, where Han Sang-gyun, the 53-year-old chairman of the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions (KCTU), has taken refuge since leading an illegal rally on Nov. 14, said Tuesday that it had decided to let him stay until Sunday, but urged him to leave as soon as possible. The KCTU welcomed the decision by the The Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism Lay Buddist Association and promised at a press conference to decide Han’s fate as soon as possible. Lee Young-ju, the secretary general of the KCTU, said members would carefully consider the decision and work hard to successfully hold its second mass rally, scheduled for Saturday. At the end of the press conference, Han looked out the window and pledged to lead the peaceful demonstration in support of workers’ rights...(source: JoongAng Ilbo, 12.2)
