KCTU reported(via fb) y'day evening(KST) the following: In the middle of the night on Dec. 11 Kim Yong-gyun, a 22-year-old subcontracted worker, died in an industrial accident at the Taean thermoelectric power staton, when he was caught in a conveyor belt. Kim had to work alone despite the risk associate with his job. Subcontract power plant workers have been fighting for a year for direct employment, inline with the government's guidelines, but to no avail, resulting in Kim's tragic death. Today, memorial protests were held in Seoul, Taean and around the country and will continue throughout the week and until we win justice for Kim and direct employment for power plant and all public sector precarious workers.
