POSSIBLY THE ENDGAME..

 

..the correspondent from BBC World was calling the coming developments, especially the for today planned mass demonstrations against the rule of Gyanendra.

 

Just about two hour ago Gyanendra made another TV adress to the people of Nepal, promissing to give the power to the parliament and he said sorry for the people who were killed in the last nearly 3 weeks...

 

 

But until now there are no informations if the democratic movement will eccept this offer..

 

Just we have to see the reactions on the streets of Kathmandu, the democratic movement is ecpecting at leat 500,000 protesters...

 

Already yesterday one of the main demands on the streets.. LET.S ACHIEVE THE DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF NEPAL!!

 

 

Yesterday already the US embassy sent back home all its staff and ordered all US citizens to leave Nepal immediately, according to CNN...

King Gyanendra reinstates House of Representatives

King Gyanendra has reinstated the House of Representatives which was dissolved on 22 May 2002 on the advice of the then Prime Minister in accordance with the Constitution of the Kingdom of Nepal-1990.

Addressing the nation on Monday night, the King also extended his heartfelt condolences to all those who have lost their lives in the people's movement and wish the injured speedy recovery.

Proclamation to the Nation from His Majesty King Gyanendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev

(24 April 2006)

Beloved Countrymen,

Convinced that the source of State Authority and Sovereignty of the Kingdom of Nepal is inherent in the people of Nepal and cognizant of the spirit of the ongoing people's movement as well as to resolve the on-going violent conflict and other problems facing the country according to the road map of the agitating Seven Party Alliance, we, through this Proclamation, reinstate the House of Representatives which was dissolved on 22 May 2002 on the advice of the then Prime Minister in accordance with the Constitution of the Kingdom of Nepal-1990.  We call upon the Seven Party Alliance to bear the responsibility of taking the nation on the path to national unity and prosperity, while ensuring permanent peace and safeguarding multiparty democracy. We also summon the session of the reinstated House of Representatives at the Sansad Bhawan, Singha Durbar at 1 P.M. on Friday, 28 April 2006.

We are confident that this House will contribute to the overall welfare of Nepal and the Nepalese people.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to all those who have lost their lives in the people's movement and wish the injured speedy recovery. We are confident that the nation will forge ahead towards sustainable peace, progress, full-fledged democracy and national unity.

May Lord Pashupatinath bless us all!

Nationwide demonstrations intensify

 

Pro-democracy demonstrations have also been intensified outside the Kathmandu Valley with massive public participation. On the 19th day of nationwide general strike and political showdown, Monday, demonstrations were staged across the nation.

Reports coming in say pro-democracy demonstrations were staged in the remote Himalayan districts of, Humla, Jumla and Kalikot with the participation of the people from all walks of life. Representatives from various professional groups, farmers, civil servants, teachers and students, among others, took part in today's protests against the April 21 royal address.

A rally was taken out at Liwang, the district headquarters of Rolpa, by women, human rights network and the Federation of Nepalese Journalists, Rolpa branch.

In Jhapa, a mourning ceremony was held at Birtamod in memory of Rajan Giri and Suraj Bishwas, who were killed by the army during a peaceful demonstration at Chandrigadi a week ago, this afternoon. Likewise, a mourning ceremony was held on the 13th day death ritual in memory of Bishnu Pandey, who was killed in the pro-democracy movement in the district, today. Thousands of the participants at the programme vowed to take the movement to its targeted goal.

In Ilam, a huge mass gathering was organized by the SPA demonstrators.

Hotel and transport labourers in Biratnagar halted their work and staged a demonstration. They said they would resume operations only until Loktantra is established in the country.

In Bardiya, Dalit women brought out a huge protest demonstration against the royal regime. There has been a shortage of daily consumer goods in the district following the prolonged nineteen days of general strike. The closure of the banks has caused more problems to the public there.

Meanwhile, government officials of the district have collected about Rs. 50,000 in relief funds for the victims of the Janandolan.

Thousands of protesters in Chitwan including government officials, students, farmers and common people took out a rally.

A joint protest rally was organized by the representatives of various professional organizations at Lahan, Siraha this afternoon. Civil servants in the district halted today's work in support of the ongoing pro-democracy movement.

In Dharan, a massive rally was organized against the royal address. Doctors and health workers of the BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences continued their protests today.

Family members of security personnel staged a demonstration in support of the movement at Inaruwa.

Meanwhile, civil servants of Bara and Sankhuwasabha stopped their official work and joined protest rallies today. Family members of security personnel in Bara also participated in the rally.

Thousands of people participated in a pro-democracy rally in Taplejung, organized by various students' unions.

Similar rallies were taken out at Phidim, Diktel, Gaighat, Bhojpur, Dhankuta, Kavre, Charikot, Dhading, Lamjung and Ghorahi.
