4.20 - THE DAY OF MASS REVOLT..
..And the beginning of the third week of General Strike

Already yesterday the regime in Kathmandu imposed a curfew for 18 hours,
but later they extanded it until today 3 am to prevent mass rallies and demos,
planned for yesterday against the monarchy.

Yesterday, according to CNN, the entire center of Kathmandu was a "ghost town".
All the streets were complete emty except large units of the "Royal Nepalese Army"
(RNA) and the riot police.

But on the outskirts of the city, especially on the ring road around the capital
at least, according to the "security" forces, "115,000 protesters defied the curfew",
CNN TV reported.

According to BBC World's correspondent, all the demonstrations and rallies of the
pro-democracy movement were complete peaceful... But the repression forces of the regime killed at least 3 protesters and injured many others critically.

If you were able to see the pictures, documentaries on BBC or CNN you could see that the
protesters, even they were threaten with mass murder by the regime, were not afraid to
take the streets. One female demonstrator said: "Here you can see the real democracy, the people's demorcracy, just on grass root basis.. And this is the future of Nepal!"

Please remember that the CPN-M, the People's Liberation Army, the People's Militias and
Commitees are ruling around 80% of the country, of course also armed.. But until now
they don't, even they have the power, use their(armed) power to take over the capital.
Till now the entire movement, even they are confronted with huge and deadly repression forces of the regime, is acting complete peacefully! But how long more...

Today in the night I will have a meeting and interview with a group which is strongly supporting the CPN-M... So perhaps on Sat./Sun. more about it.

Here the latest news..

Thousands demonstrate defying curfew

Defying the government-clamped curfew, thousands of protesters demonstrated at various places in Katmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur since early Thursday morning.

Nepal magazine correspondent Rajaram Gautam, who lives in Kalanki, told Kantipur Television over the phone that dozens were injured in the police baton-charge and firing of teargas shells and bullets at the demonstration of thousands in Kalanki.

As police did not allow ambulances to go to the incident site, the injured were rushed to hospital in vehicles of Informal Sector Service Centre (INSEC)- a leading human rights NGO.

Police forcefully entered the houses of local people and beat the locals as well as the protestors who hid themselves there after the firing.

A huge rally from Kirtipur also joined the protestors at Kalanki.

Demonstrations and police-protestors clashes continued till in the evening in Syuchatar, Dhungaadda, and Balkhu areas.

The authorities imposed an 18-hour-long (2 am-8 pm) curfew in the capital on Thursday in a clear bid to thwart the seven-party alliance's (SPA) capital-centred protest demonstrations. No curfew pass was issued to the media and human rights monitors

Firing in Satdobato, Gwarko

They marched ahead defying the curfew order at around 1:00 in the afternoon, reported our correspondent Suresh Nath Neupane. Nepali Congress leader Arjun Narsingh KC and Nepali Congress-Democratic leader Prakash Saran Mahat led the protest rally.

Police resorted to indiscriminate baton-charge and firing of teargas shells to disperse the protesters and prevent them from defying the curfew orders. Dozens of protestors were injured. Janamorcha Nepal leader Nawaraj Subedi was injured in police baton charge.

Clashes between police and protestors continued till late in the evening.

Similarly, thousands of protestors gathered at Chabahil defying the curfew and chanted pro-democracy slogans. Chabahil remained comparatively peaceful. Over 35 thousand protestors had assembled at Chabahil, chanting pro-democracy slogans.

Protest demonstrations were also held in Bhaktapur. Kantipur Television correspondent Gehina Joshi reported that thousands of demonstrators from Jadibuti, Gothatar, Kaushaltar gathered in Bhaktapur. However, they made several attempts to move towards Tinkune, Katmandu, defying curfew orders despite heavy security presence.

Thousands of protestors took out a protest rally and demonstration in Budhanilkantha area also.

However, no major demonstrations were seen in the main streets and markets of Kathmandu except in Anamnagar-Ghattekulo area where over 5000 people, mostly students and youths, led by student leaders Gagan Thapa and Rajendra Rai took out a rally that passed through Anamnagar, Ghattekulo and Maitidevi.

Sporadic rallies were also taken out at Buddhanagar, Koteshwor, Sankhamul and Battisputali.

Kantipur FM reported that police had stopped nearly ten thousand of people, who came from Dhading district on foot to participate in the SPA's capital-centered protests today, at Thankot.
