The 2nd "Bus of Hope" campaign(1.25~26) in solidarity with the Miryang Struggle was a complete SUCCESS!! Between 3000 and 4000 activists from all across S. YONGSAN MASSACRE!!
Today, five years ago: At 6 a.m., residents who were asking for solutions to avoid eviction in February in Seoul's Youngsan-gu(district) lost their lives as a consequence of STATE TERROR. A 1500 strong force of riot cops, incl. SWAT and "anti-terror" units, was dispatched to disperse about 50 protesters. The police actions taken toward these protesters were similar to those taken in times war. Less than a day after those facing eviction started protesting and without further conversations or an effort to discuss the issues, the government dispatched a special police force and staged an anti-terror operation. After the police entered the building where the protesters were, a fire broke out and the circumstances became dangerous. Last Sat.(1.18) in central Seoul: Around 1000 activists joined the memorial rally, demo and culture festival to honor the victims of the YONGSAN MASSACRE...

Today in the late morning(KST) Yonhap News announced: "Thirteen leaders of a rail union who are wanted by police for leading last month's strike will voluntarily turn themselves in to police for questioning..."
In the early afternoon Korea Times wrote: The union leaders of Korea Railroad Corp. (KORAIL) on Tuesday withdrew their earlier decision to appear before the police to be questioned over the alleged instigation of the 22-day strike last month. The 13 leaders, including KORAIL Union President Kim Myong-hwan, initially planned to present themselves to police after holding a press conference at the office building of the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions (KCTU)...
As some 300 police officers tried to force their way into the office to execute arrest warrants, union members blocked them and the railroad union said it will put on hold their appearance until the police force stationed in front of the building withdraw...
And only two hours later the same paper reported: The leaders of the union at the Korea Railroad Corp. (KORAIL) were questioned by police Tuesday for allegedly instigating a 22-day strike last month. They turned themselves in after a five-hour-long standoff with police...
