Last Friday(7.22): "150,000 members of the Korean Metal Workers Union(KMWU) went on strike, demanding Chaebols(S. Korean conglomerates) to join the industrial negotiations"(source: KCTU). On the same day about 30,000 KMWU activists from all around the country gathered in Seoul and held rallies(KCTU's detailed report in Korean you'll get here) nearby the Nat'l Assembly(S. Korean parliament)...

Last Wednesday(7.20): About 100,000 KCTU members went on a "general strike" against the regressive labour "reform", mass layoffs in the Shipbuilding industry, unilateral decision of minimum wage, excessive repression against union activities and for "Chaebol-Conglomerates's accountability". KCTU staged the strike rallies in 13 different cities...

Here just some impressions, depicting the strike rally in Seoul's Yeouido, nearby the Nat'l Assambly, where about 11,000 KCTU activists from the capital region(Seoul, Gyeonggi-do) and Gangwon-do(province) staged their protest...

Residents in Seongju County vowed today(7.17) to extend their organized struggle against the deployment of a Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) battery there. One day earlier(7.16) some 200 representatives from the public and private sectors in the county in North Gyeongsang Province set up an Anti-THAAD Struggle Committee to stage a long-term, systematic fight against the deployment of the anti-missile unit. The committee members said they would continue rallies until the gov't withdraws its THAAD deployment plan...

Already two days earlier(7.15) Seongju residents became really angry and changed from defensive/pleading MO into (a kind of)DIRECT ACTION...
