…was just strange and crazy.
First of all at least 1.600 riot cops were surrounding the Citizen Park (열린 시민공원), opposite of the Gyeongbok-gung (palace), just to take care that 6 Yangko players and about 60 kids don’t play revolution – ha, ha!
Actually the reason for the rally was to memorize the 4.19 uprising in 1960, when the democracy movement – mainly students from the middle class, because the children from workers and peasants were not able to study (their parents were just to poor) – was able to overthrow the Ree Syng-man regime (he was ruling the country since 1948 by a corrupt and anti-communist dictatorship).
But the main issue was not a possibly better democratization of S. Korea - the main issue was Tokdo (the big rock in the East Sea, also stressed by Japan). So, for example the representative of DLP’s (민노당) student group was just talking about the Japanese imperialism/militarism and of course the stone in the sea. Topic missed, sit down!
So, as I already assumed: just a newly kind of polit-trash. What a pity!

I guess she is sitting on...

...surprise, surprise - yeah, on 日本!!
As I wrote last night yesterday there was not only polit-trash, but also some nice surprises before. In the early by a mistake I ended up near Cheonghwadae, the presidential complex. In fact it was not planned as a mistake, but finally it was one. So I decided, because I had enough time (MWTV has for some days a kind of vacation), to walk to Ehwa. Perhaps you know that short after the Independent Gate (독립문) a long tunnel is beginning, only open for cars and so. The tunnel is ending near the backside of Ehwa. The reach this area on foot you must climb the Ansan (mountain) located between Independent Gate area and the Southeast and Northeast. So I started near the gate to climb – it was a real nice trip, only the noise from the roads in the valleys was terrible – and 30 minutes later I reached… Hongche-dong/무악제역 – exactly the opposite site in the North of Ehwa. So I started again to climb the mountain and because I knew that I have to go more to the South, after a while I found the right way. On the last quarter on my trip surprisingly I cam to a temple complex (봉원사). Because nearly no person was there it was really nice to watch the great architecture and enjoy the peaceful neighborhood. But also outside the complex the houses are very impressive – in old style and really beautiful (see on the pics following no. 10). After all, beside the afternoon “entertainment” it was a really nice day.
But today the “ordinary” life is continuing with a polit-event in the afternoon (the advertisement about it I found y’day in Ehwa), but perhaps it will be also just trash. Maybe you can read next about it?!
Following just some impressions from y'day's trip:
