Today at 03:30 in the morning: About 70 "security guards", i.e. organized gangsters, hired by Gangnam-gu(district) office, forcibly attacked the residents of Poi-dong and cleared the way for the complete destruction of seven new build houses(*):

A more detailed report about it, you'll get as soon as possible!!!
Today in the afternoon I "visited"(*) the H.Q. of Seoul's riot cops. At that time several units practiced how to stave (peaceful/defenseless) protesters/demonstrators:

*But because I wasn't explicitly invited(^^), I had to take the pics from far away. Sorry!!

Ilsan/Pung-dong, May 2004: Dozens of gangsters, hired by the construction company (mafia!), armed with fire bombs, iron bars, precision slingshots and special modified excavators attacked people who defended their homes against "redevelopment", i.e. forced eviction...

Seoul, Yongsan (2008/9): "security guards" (i.e. organized gangs of criminals, Yonhap called them "temporary police workers", hired by the construction companies, commissioned with the "redevelopment..") terrorized the entire neighborhood...

Myeong-dong "redevelopment" zone, spring 2011: Gangsters, hired by Daewoo Construction (mafia!) attacked several times "Cafe Mari"...

Here some (un-commented) impressions from yesterday's "Myeong-dong Bullshit" ("protest" performance):

Impressions from yesterday's rally (in front of Seoul Stn.) of "irregular" school staff workers (about 3000, mainly female workers from all across S. Korea participated), damanding equal payment, higher minimum wage, human working conditions and decasualisation:

Myeong-dong "redevelopment" zone, resp. DISASTER area (because it is a disaster for the affected tenants and Seoul's urban development!!): Impressions from yesterday...

...and today (the same "building" as above):

Only the day before y'day the "owner" of the small grocery (just round the corner of "Jeukseok Kimbab"/즉석김밥) said that the house where his store is located will be remaining at least for the next three years... But today the situation changed completely:

So, as you can see, the situation on the "frontline" becomes more and more unstably and dangerous for the remaining tenants in Myeong-dong's DISASTER area.
서울, '이주노동자' 구역에 대한 인상
Today in the early afternoon I met a dongji(comrade) in Seoul's "Soviet"(^^) quarter, located in Gwanghui-dong, near the former Dongdaemun Stadium Station. Here many migrant workers from the ex-USSR (Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan etc.) but also from Mongolia are living and working. But you'll also find a lot of small enterprises, owned(?) by people of the former Soviet Union...
Here just some impressions from the area:

Euljiro 2-ga, no. 5 area(Samgak/Suha-dong) was a residential/commercial district located between Euljiro and Cheonggyecheon, only a stone's throw away from Myeong-dong "redevelopment" zone. Here around 5000 people rented their homes and/or places for small businesses, such as restaurants, offices for different services or workshops. But in 2004 they all got the eviction order... (Here you can read about their story, incl. background etc.)
