On Wednesday, South Korea is set to commemorate the May 18 democracy movement in which citizens of Gwangju, 371 kilometers south of Seoul, rose up against the then-military rule of former general-turned-President Chun Doo-hwan in 1980. Last Saturday(5.14) in Gwangju: KCTU called for an 'Nat'l Workers Rally' to commemorate 36th anniversary of the Gwangju Uprising(aka 5.8 Democratic Uprising)... but only a small number(3000) of activists joined the event(i.e. KCTU's following demands: "Stop the so-called 'Labour Reform'!", "We want 10,000 won as Minimum Wage!", "Free Han Sang-gyun!", "Let's Achieve Peace on the Korean Peninsula!")...
