August 22–25, 1992: A violent xenophobic riot took place in Rostock-Lichtenhagen; it was the first racist pogrom in postwar Germany. Despite stones and petrol bombs being thrown at an apartment block where asylum seekers and Vietnamese contracted workers lived, miraculously no one was killed. But hundreds of thousands of "non-german" residents in the reunified Germany became extreme scared...
