Racently the 'business'(i.e. arch-capitalist) magazine Forbes(USA) published the following: "It’s time for [...]America to leave the Koreans solve their own problems... America’s troops should return home, and the U.S. security guarantee should end. South Korea could then take its place among the world’s nations as truly independent, freed of its embarrassing reliance on Washington for defense, perhaps the most basic attribute of nationhood." The entire piece you can read here! [PS. Of course the last paragraph "UPDATE: ...why the U.S. should fear the ROK (and Japan) developing nuclear weapons..." is a complete f*cking stupid idea!!!]

It was May 29, 2013, at the annex to the Seoul Immigration Office, when Lama Dawa Pasang (38, Korean name Minsu), a Tibetan refugee and a citizen of Nepal, showed up for an interview to become a naturalized South Korean citizen...
But in Jan. 2014, Minsu got an unexpected call from the citizenship and refugee department of the Ministry of Justice. They asked if he had ever been in the courtroom. In the winter of 2010, Minsu became a victim of a redevelopment project. Since 2008, Minsu had been operating Potala, a Nepalese/Tibetan restaurant located in front of the Myeongdong Cathedral in downtown Seoul, with his South Korean wife Lee Geun-hye, 35, whom he had married in 2006. But just after the couple went to all the trouble of setting up the restaurant, the city announced that the building would be demolished as part of a city beautification project (*)
In Sep. 2011, Minsu was arrested and charged with obstructing justice for blocking the entrance of the cranes and disobeying an order to disperse. On Feb. 28, 2014, the Supreme Court confirmed that he would have to pay a fine of KRW 5 million (US$4,726).
In the end, Minsu’s application for citizenship was denied. Notification of the rejection, issued in the name of the Minister of Justice, was delivered to his house in March. The Ministry explained that Minsu could not be given citizenship not only because of his criminal record but also because of his inappropriate conduct. One of the conditions for becoming a South Korean citizen according to the Nationality Act is “orderly conduct”... (the entire article you can read here!

Today's "court circular" in the S. Korean print media(possibly forced into line^^)...
A roof of a gymnasium at a resort in Gyeongju, North Gyeongsang Province, collapsed Monday night under the weight of snow, killing 10 people and injuring 105...(JoongAng Ilbo, 2.19)
But "heavy snow" wasn't the main cause! According to the S. Korean (bourgeois)media it was only the secondary cause. The primary cause was - as usual - the well-known fact that capitalism stops at nothing to achieve profit maximization!!
The resort, owned by Kolon Industries Inc.(a corporation already accused for massive labour right violations), is located at the top of Mount Dongdae at an altitude of 500 meters, according to police officials. The heavy snow atop the roof could have caused the collapse, following recent massive snowfalls across the country, officials said, adding that they are not ruling out whether the building was an unauthorized structure that had failed to meet safety standards. The gymnasium, also used as an auditorium, was a pre-engineered building assembled with rigid frames and side walls, the ministry official said. Buildings of this type are usually used for storage purposes...(Yonhap, 2.18)
Concerns have escalated over alleged fraudulent construction of the building and a lack of safety measures. Reports by officials and experts stated that the possibility was high that the building was poorly built in the first place and should have been used as a storage facility, not a gymnasium, judging from the materials it was made from...(K. Herald, 2.18)
