This is Pimatgol, the narrow, tradition-steeped alleyway that runs east-west alongside Jongno (between Jongmyo Park and Kyobo B/D) in downtown Seoul(*). But like many other areas in central Seoul Pimatgol’s days are numbered, "thanks" to the ongoing "redevelopment" excess!
* More detailed infos about Pimatgol (history, the struggle against the "redevelopment" etc.) you'll get in the next week!
Some of the Planned "Redevelopment" Excesses
in Seoul, Yongsan-gu(*)
* Currently home for tens of thousands predominantly poorer tenants and workplace (in stores, small workshops, cheap restaurants...) for thousands of people!!
Busan, y'day evening: the "Nat'l Candlelight Tour" in solidarity with the resisting victims of the Yongsan "redevelopment" (i.e. demolition) project started with its first stop:

Some beautiful impressions from yesterday's National Workers Rally, organized by KCTU. In the afternoon at least 7,000 workers, progressive political and resistance activists gathered in downtown Pyeongtaek to demonstrate their solidarity with the SsangYong Strike(*):
* But "of course" it wasn't so peaceful all the time! After the rally ended hundreds of activists wanted to deliver food and water (humanitarian aid!!) to the besieged strikers but were confronted and attacked by approx. 9,000 riot cops, using water cannons and "tear gas bombs"(according to Yonhap), as you can see/read in the following reports: I☞ VoP I☞ cMedia I☞ NewsCham

Last Saturday(4.18) the annual "420 Struggle Day Against the Discrimination of Disabled People" has been celebrated with a powerful demonstration and a colorful culture festival in downtown Seoul. And - as usual(*) - large units of the riot cops were sent to oppress, or at least to disrupt the event:

* It seems that no matter whether the "progressives"(^^), like the former Roh Moo-hyun adminstration or the reactionaries of the current MB-gang are "ruling" S.K. - the organized movement of disabled people is always a part of the domestic "axis of evil" (like migrant workers, resisting irregular workers, the activists who are fighting against house demolition/forced eviction etc, etc..), as you can see here:
