…today I nearly finished (successful!!) my editing job for the next Migrant Workers TV. It will be broadcasted on coming Saturday at 9 pm on RTV. And just now I complete finished another contribution: about the “battle” on May 19 in front of Mokdong Immigration Office (here you can read the related report). Actually I really like the final product – nice pictures and good music! Yeah, just watch the program (a while later you also can find the stuff in the internet, of course here too). Tomorrow the final work on the documentary and than everything is fine …and we can start to plan the 4th broadcasting. Yesterday I joined the rally of irregular workers on Yeoui-do, maximum 500 workers and some students participated. Except it was f… hot, nothing special was happen. Oh, it’s not really true, because behind the stage, nearly on the end of the rally three explosions took place, one huge and two smaller. What was the really happen, I couldn’t find out, but perhaps three riot cops exploded …who knows!? By the way, when 500 peoples, S. Korea has 8.000.000 irregular workers – 60% of the entire working class here - demand “general strike” they really should ask themselves if this is realistic.

Yeah, 9 hours movie editing makes complete mad!! And tomorrow (after tomorrow at 1pm the docu must be finished) the same shit (and I also have to go to Yeouido/irregular workers struggle)… Ha, I already hate my movie/documentary! I will go home now!

Yesterday, before we’d the weekly

 meeting,

I joined the so-called “one person” rally in front of Myeong-dong cathedral. The atmosphere there was more like a happening (when I made the same in last year’s summer it was just torture, because there was no shadow and it was every day just f… hot, so I called the entire show: brain cooking). Several activists from Struggle and Rice group were on the spot, with guitar and bongo – and they collected many signatures, especially after my comrade Mahbub took the microphone to mobilize the by-passers.

 

 

After our MWTV meeting – the first time we got paid yesterday for our first broadcasting – we went to a nearby restaurant… and just a funny night begun. So today in the morning I was really f… off, but I had to work. So in the last eight hours or so I selected more pictures/scenes and music for my documentary which will be broadcasted next Saturday at 9pm. In my break I joined again for a while the “one person” rally and again it was funny there, even today it was so f… hot and the air in Seoul was complete dirty!

The music, you hear in the background: When I remember well it is from the soundtrack of “Take Care of my Cat” (고양이를 부탁해). I saw the movie during my first visit in SK in 2001 in Busan on PIFF. When I was back in Germany some weeks later a friend brought me a copy of the soundtrack and so nearly every day, until my next visit to SK was listening to the music and got really sad, because the movie is a kind of connected with some beautiful memories. Before y’day I found this music on my friend’s blog (actually she should know…).

Anyway, I will go home now.

Today actually I should continue to edit my stuff from last Sunday, but unfortunately I have to send our “Urgent Appeal” (to stop the process of deportation of Anwar) around the world (till now the appeal is in 27 countries in Asia/Oceania, Africa and Europe – now the Americas…).

 

Today in the morning I had already a small clash with civil cops: in front of our (in the building next to it is RTV, our present work place located) neighbor building, the former LG건설 at present GS건설(The names are changing, but the methods to exploit the working class are still the same!!), Gyeonggi-do Construction Workers Trade Union (경기도 건설 산업 노동조합, the shared last year with us the struggle place in Myeong-dong for about 300 days) held a rally. I went there to join for a while, but two civil cops wanted to prevent that and so some argues and scuffling were happen until they understand that I just wanted to use my political right to join a workers rally… (In fact I don’t have this right, because foreigners are not allowed to participate in political activities in S. Korea. Just some days ago, N. Vollertsen, a German,, who is involved/active in anti-NK stuff, was kicked out off SK.). Anyway, here you can read the leaflet for today’s protest against GS건설.

Yesterday actually I wanted to join a “Marxist Forum" 진정한 민주주의란 무엇인가? , organized by a friend (?) and her comrades in one of Seoul’s universities (하하, just two years ago she told me that she don’t need lectures about politics… and now she gives lectures…). But because I was working nearly 12 hours – pre editing one of our next contributions for MWTV – I was not able to go there. I’m sooo sorry…

Before y’day MTU started in Myeong-dong the “One Person Rally” campaign – the presently chairman of MTU, Shakil, was the beginner. Actually it is a many person rally (when I, together mainly with Myeong-ho from ETU, made about 60 days 일인시위 in front of the National Assembly nearly exactly one year ago, it was not allowed to stay with two or more people there – just one was allowed)… Just times are changing…

 

Today in the evening, 7 pm, we’ll (MTU) have the next rally in Myeong-dong and everyone is warmest welcome!

What is real democracy?

Democracy (Ancient Greek: peoples power. But the cops are peoples too, the capitalists and even Mr. Bush and Rumsfeld also…) is a form of state, but the state is the instrument of power of the ruling class. In the present time the ruling class is the capitalist class. The bourgeois democracy is mainly protecting the rights of the bourgeois class. In the socialist society (after the REVOLUTION!!) the proletarian democracy will protect mainly the rights of the working class. But as you can see, both kind of democracy are not “real” democracies. “Real” democracy you’ll have just in the communist (or how ever you wanna call it), classless society. But, because in the classless society there will be no nation, no state (no police, no army, no party – ruling/opposing…) and of course no classes anymore – just freedom for everyone of the collective – there, in fact, will be also no democracy anymore… Everything is clear???

 

Right now Mahbub told me, that today is no rally in Myeong-dong!!

 

So I'll just edit my stuff until the evening/night.

While the majority of the Koreans today is celebrating their consumer intoxication

(현충일), we, my colleague and me, have to work – editing the stuff we recorded y’day.

Yesterday was “Migrants’ Arirang” (MA), a culture festival, organized by the …Ministry of Culture and Tourism – yeah, the S. Korean government (next year, the Ministry of “Justice”, the deportation department, a.k.a. immigration office should be the organizer of the event)! The same m…f… who are hunting and deporting daily migrant workers! So the whole event was a totally lied event!

But a much greater shame: all the migrant communities were playing the government’s game, no one - inclusive us, the MTU - was effective protesting against it. Even we were talking about it the day before, at the time even we’d no one leaflet, no pickets, nothing, except our signature lists. And the event was a real great opportunity to stage a public-effectively protest against the government’s inhuman policy, and the daily massive acts of exploitation by the S. Korean capitalists/business people.

Instead for example the Nepalese community, usually very strong minded against this injustice system, celebrated a wedding ceremony, Stop Crackdown Band just played songs about the “love to Korea” and that they “one day want to go home” (exactly the same, what our enemies want to hear!), the next entertainer, a Korean, sung also about “good bye”, one of our supporting groups (www.stopcrackdown.net) was kicked out by the organizers of MA… After all it was a day of massive defeat for the case of migrant workers!!

Yesterday, June 3, at 2 pm, before our weekly meeting of MWTV, the demonstration of struggling printing workers, organized in the National Union of Media Workers, took place near Jungmu-ro Station. Today they are since 39 days a rotating in sit-in struggle.

But the real struggle highlight was in the evening: “illegal” migrant workers (NO HUMAN IS ILLEGAL!), organized in an “illegal” trade union (MTU), made an “illegal” protest in the Dongdaemun area. At 7 pm for one hour and twenty minutes six migrant workers, supported and protected by ten activists of DLP (민노당 – perhaps because of this fact the protest was not really illegal. 감사합니다, 同志!!), shouted slogans and distributed leaflets near the Dongdaemun Station to make the public attentive about the current situation of migrant workers in S. Korea in general and especially about the situation of MTU (perhaps the government will not legalize the union, Anwar Hossain, the president of MTU is still in prison and is facing deportation…). And the action was really successful, because we got a lot of attention from the citizens, not least because of Daham-kke’s “mobile propaganda machine” excessive effectiveness!

Anyway, after the rally in front of a subway entrance we marched, while shouting slogans and distributing more leaflets, through the area. Finally we made another rally and finished our powerful protest successfully. Later we decided that this kind of action must be regularly repeated.

Yesterday, June 1, in Suwon, in front of Gyeonggi-do police headquarter, was the rally from the activists who are defending their homes in Osan. What was the reason to protest? Practices usually used by criminal gangs, hired by the construction (companies) mafia to drive out people who defend their homes by resisting to move out/occupying their residential quarter, nowadays used by the riot cops. Like May 22 they used golf balls shot by big slingshots (see the pictures below) to attack the resisting activists in Osan/Sucheong-dong who are just defending their human rights (of payable room for living). So yesterday approximately 200 people, mainly activists from Osan, but also from other present or former struggle places, such as Cheongjin-dong and Ilsan/Pung-dong, gathered on the other roadside in front of Gyeonggi-do police headquarter. Together with supporters from KCTU (Gyeonggi-do regional council), in the KFCITU organized construction workers, members of Power of the Working Class, the Socialist Party, some student activists and one representative from Osan Migrant Center they condemned the activities of the cops as crimes and demanded the punishment of the responsible persons and their officers. On the end of the powerful rally we crossed the street to protest directly on the area of the police headquarter. Of course we were directly blocked by several lines of riot cops. A short while later more cops, all together at least 120, started to encircle us, ready to arrest everyone if the scuffling, we already had with the blocking line, turned in something more serious. But finally after the final resolution we finished the rally and were able to leave the area.
