Calls for the ouster of President Park Geun-hye continued to echo in the streets, on the last day of 2016, with 1 million protesters gathering in central Seoul.

The number of participants in Saturday night’s rally brought the cumulative number of people who have attended the protests since October to 10 million, according to rally organizers...

During the protest, rally-goers marched up to a point 100 meters from the presidential office of Cheong Wa Dae, the acting president’s office and the Constitutional Court, while demanding Park be punished and for a swift decision from the court.

A festive mood spread across the grounds as it was the last day of the year. Participants enjoyed cultural performances(an impressive example you'll get here) and events, including firecrackers and laser shows.

After the rally was over, a lot of the citizens remained to watch the symbolical New Year’s Eve bell-ringing ceremony at Bosingak, a large bell pavilion at Jongno in central Seoul to welcome the New Year...(source: Korea Herald, 1.01)

Today's (bourgeois-conservative)JongAng Ilbo reported the following: Christmas Eve did not stop hundreds of thousands of people from taking to the streets to demand President Park Geun-hye step down or, failing that, that the Constitutional Court deliver swift judgment on Park’s impeachment and remove her... As many as 700,000 gathered throughout the country on Christmas Eve...

Some 550,000 gathered in Gwanghwamun Square alone to demand Park’s immediate departure from office...

“Christmas will be merry again only if Park is put behind bars,” protesters chanted in Busan as they marched on Jungang Main Street of Seo-myeon on Saturday evening. Organizers said some 70,000 gathered...

The streets of Daegu, Park’s hometown, were also crowded with some 2,000 protesters in a candlelight vigil to demand Park step down. Protesters held pickets that read “Disband the Saenuri Party” and “Constitutional Court must impeach Park immediately"...
