KCTU members are striking and rallying...
...in thirteen regions around the country ahead of meeting of the ESLC(*) tomorrow. The ESLC, supposed to pass agreements to increase labour flexibility (expand flexible worktime system) and revise trade union law. Employers are calling for more restrictions on union activities and the right to strike and the govenment is saying accepting these demand are the price we have to pay for ratification of ILO Conventions 87 and 98. How can ratifying ILO conventions be about weakening labour rights!?!. This is just the start of KCTU's fight to stop this attack on workers and democracy.(source: KCTU via fb)
* Discussions on ratification of ILO conventions and revision of labour law are currently taking place in the Committee on Improvement of Labour Relations Law and Practice of the Economic, a subcommittee of the Social and Labour Council (ESLC), a social dialogue body established by South Korean President Moon Jae-in.
