The Rapid Service (a seven-car commuter train) came off the tracks on the West Japan Railway Company (JR West) Fukuchiyama Line (JR Takarazuka Line) in Amagasaki, Hyōgo Prefecture, near Osaka, just before Amagasaki Station on its way for Dōshisha-mae via the JR Tōzai Line and the Gakkentoshi Line, and the front two carriages rammed into an apartment building. The first carriage slid into the first floor parking garage and as a result took days to remove. Of the roughly 700 passengers (initial estimate was 580 passengers) on board at the time of the crash, 106 passengers, in addition to the driver, were killed and 562 others injured. Most passengers and bystanders have said that the train appeared to have been travelling too fast. A train collision occurred at about 8:30 pm Saturday (July 23, 2011) on a bridge near Wenzhou of China when bullet train D301 (modal CRH2-139E) rear-ran into D3115 (modal CRH1-046B), which allegedly lost power after lightning strike. A rush hour collision in Germany between a passenger train and a construction engine has killed three people and injured a further 13 near the towns of Muelheim and Offenbach.

자기부상열차(磁氣浮上列車, 영어: maglev, magnetic levitation)는 전기로 발생된 자기력으로 레일에서 낮은 높이로 부상해서 바퀴를 사용하지 않고 직접 차량을 추진시켜 달리는 열차를 말한다. 기존 전기철도는 바퀴와 레일의 마찰을 통해서 차량을 전진시키는 방식을 취하고 있기 때문에 속도가 빨라질 경우 차륜(바퀴)이 레일에 밀착되지 않고 공전하는 경향이 있어, 그보다 더 빠르게 주행하기가 힘들어 더 빠른속도를 내기 위해 개발한 것이 자기부상열차이다.(바퀴 방식은 한계속도의 제한을 받는다)
독일이1969년부터 개발을 시작했고 이후 일본, 대한민국 순으로 개발을 시작했다. 장점으로는 바퀴가 없기 때문에 마찰 저항이 거의 없고 그로 인해 낮은 동력으로 높은 속도를 얻을 수 있고 진동과 소음이 거의 없어 승차감이 쾌적하다. 또한 차체가 궤도를 감싸는 안전한 구조이므로 일반적으로 탈선할 일이 거의 없다.

엄청난 건설비용은, 초고속을 상정했을 때의 문제로 추정된다(사실 이것도 검증해 보아야 한다)는점이며, 중 저속으로 간다면 오히려 더 싼 비용으로 건설할 수 있다고 보여진다. 인천 국제공항에 건설 중인 자기부상 열차의 건설단가를 참조해 보자. 지하철 대비 월등히 저렴한 비용으로 건설 가능할 것으로 추정된다. 내가 이런 사업을 하는 주체라면, 철저하게 정확한 비교분석을 해 주겠지만, 나는 그저 제안자에 불과하므로, 추정치로 말할 수 밖에 없다.
강한 전자계로 인한 인체의 영향 문제는, 지금 기존의 전철 방식도 마찬가지로서, 오히려 더 심한 악영향을 주고 있다는 점을 잊지 말자.기존 방식은2.2KV의 전력 구동방식으로서, 단순히 전압만 높은 것이 아니라, 전류의 흐름이 엄청나게 강하다는 점이다. 사람이 전기에 감전되어 죽음에 이르는 이유는, 전류의 세기가 강하기 때문이지, 전압 때문에 죽는 것이 아니다. 벼락을 맞아도 사는 이유는, 전류가 약하기 때문이다.
예를 들자면, 과거 우리가 보던 브라운관 방식의 텔레비전이나 모니터들인데, 여기서 사용되는 전압은 대단히 높아서, 보통 수십KV에 이른다는 점이다. 평균27KV, 즉27,000V의 초고압이지만, 사람이 이 전압에 감전되어 죽지는 않는데, 전류가 미세하기 때문이다. 그러나 가정용 전압은 비록110V의 저전압이지만, 감전되면 사람이 죽는다. 왜? 전류가 강하기 때문이다. 이 개념은 사람들이 잘 모를 것이므로, 공부한다는 생각으로 새겨 두자. 27KV~30KV의 초고압으로 인해서 생기는 전자계의 세기는 대단히 강하다고 보면 된다. 그러나 기존 자기부상열차는 고작1.8KV의 구동 전압을 가진다. 비교해 보시라.
여기서 중요한 점은 전자기력 Electric Magnetic Field Power(추진력이 된다)를 발생시키는 역할로서의 강한 전압인데, 자기부상열차도 동일한 원리라고 추정된다. 즉, 전압만 강하고, 전류는 그다지 강하지 않다는 생각이며, 오히려 듣기로는1.8kV의 구동 전압을 필요로 한다고 하는데, 이는 기존 전철의2.2KV보다도 낮은 전압이다.
전철을 구동시키는 고압선 주변에 가 보시라. 찍~ 찍~ 징징 울리는 듣기 거북한 스파크, 노이즈가 튀는 것이 느껴질 것이다. 이게 전압(전류도 강하다)이 강해서, 공중 방전되면서 생기는 현상인데, 이러한 현상이 일으키는, 초강력 에너지 파동, 전자계 파동은 인체에 대단히 유해하다. 그러나 우리는 이로 인하여 누가 죽었다는 얘기는 아직까지 들은 바가 없다. 자기부상 열차가 더 안전하다는 얘기다.
나는 상당히 민감해서 그런지 몰라도, 전철의 전력선 주변에 가면 마치 내 육체가 강한 스파크에 눌어 붙는 듯한 불쾌감이 느껴진다는 점이다. 이게 전력이 강하다는 증거인데, 전력이란, 전압과 전류가 동반하여 높은 수치를 가질 때, 높은 파워를 가진다는 의미다. 전류도 강하다는 의미다. 전철은 모터 구동방식인데, 모터가 엄청난 전류를 필요로 한다는 점을 상기해 두자. 그러나 자기구동 방식은 전류가 그렇게 많이 필요로 하지 않다는 점이다.(전기세가 절약된다) 굳이 구분한다면, 전철방식은, 전력 구동방식 즉, 강한 전류와 전압이 동반하여 파워를 형성하여 모터를 돌려서, 차체가 움직인다는 원리이고,
자기부상방식은 강한 전압으로 생기는 전자기력(전자기력 구동방식)을 이용해서 차체가 움직인다는 원리로 생각될 수 있다.(?) 즉, 자기부상 방식에서는 강한 전류는 필요치 않다는 점이다. 전력도 절약된다. 즉, 전기세가 덜 나온다. 마치 아날로그 시대에 사용되던 아날로그 전자제품이 전기세가 더 나오는 것과 같다.
디지털 제품들은 전력을 덜 소모하면서도 동작할 수 있기 때문이다. 즉, 전압의 문제가 아니라, 전류의 문제라는 점이다. 전기세에 영향을 주는 요소는 전류다. 그리고 이것이 전력이라고 표현되면, 열로서 나타난다. 발열, 즉 열로 소비되는 비율이 높아진다는 것을 의미한다.
전압이 높으면 전기세가 절약되고 효율이 상승한다는것은 잘 알려져 있는 사실이다. 이 점을 참조해 보라. 왜 강한 파워를 요구하는 전자기기나 열차 등에 초고전압이 사용될까를 말이다. 전압이 높다는 의미는 강한 파워를 창출해 낼 수 있음을 의미하기 때문이다.
전력(전기의 힘) 자력(자기의 힘) 서로 다른 의미다. 그래서 자기부상열차가 유지보수 비용이 아주 저렴하다는 장점이 극대화 된다는 것이다. 전기세부터 절약될 것이기 때문이다. 전력이란 쉽게 표현하면 열이다. 즉, 발열량이라고 볼 수 있다.
전철은 대용량의 전력을 필요로 하는데, 그래서 팬터그라프 pantograph 라고 하는 집전 장치를 달고 다닌다. 강한 전류와 전압이 동반되어야 한다는 것이다. 그러나 자기부상방식은, 약한 전류와 비교적 높은 전압이 요구되는 것으로서, 전력지수를 높이는 전류의 세기를 감소시킨다. 즉, 발열로서 소비되는 에너지가 크게 감소된다는 점이며, 마찰로서 소비되는 에너지 소비가 거의 없다는 점이다.
바퀴 방식은 필연적으로 마찰이 생긴다.마찰로 인한 에너지 소비는, 발열로 나타나고, 이는 다시 부품의 피로도 증가로 이어져, 부품의 손상을 가져 오고, 마찰로 인한 에너지 손실로 인하여, 효율 측면에서 상당히 안 좋다는 점이다.
즉, 발열 측면으로서의 에너지 소비 증가 및 마찰 증가로 인한 부품의 손상으로 인한 부품 교체 수리 비용의 증가다. 게다가 강한 소음과 진동, 분진은 또 어떤가?그래서 고대 문명, 발전된 외계문명 권에서는 대부분 자기추진 방식을 동력원으로 하고 있었다는 점이다. 정확하게는 중력파 조절, 전자기파 추력 방식으로 말할 수도 있겠다. 아틀란티스 문명 시대에, 조용히 떠서 날아다니던 비행선들이 전부 이런 방식이었다고 전해진다. 현대문명은 자연을 거스르는 기계문명이므로, 불필요한 비용과 불편이 가중되는 문제를 안고 있는데, 바로 여기서 시작된다. 게다가 대기오염 및 이로 인한 자연파괴, 생체 악영향은 말할 것도 없다.
전압의 공중 방전은 전류의 세기가 강할수록 더 강해진다. 전압만 높고, 전류가 약하다면, 공중 방전(즉, 전자기력, 전자계 발생이 낮아진다)도 약해진다는 점이다. 지하철 구간을 보라. 심한 소음과 진동, 분진, 어둡고 답답한 터널, 강한 전자계 방전과 스파크, 불꽃이 튀기는 열악한 조건이다. 이게 뭐가 좋은 건데?
나로서는 세계 각국에서 자기부상열차를 주요 교통수단으로 채택하지 않는 이유가 상당히 궁금하다.모든 면에서 볼 때, 월등한 점이 많음에도, 왜 그들은 바퀴방식의 시끄럽고 진동 심하고, 단점 투성이인 기존 열차를 고집하고 있을까를 말이다. 나로서는 과거부터 이 문제를 알고 있었지만, 기술적인 미비점으로 인해서, 도입이 되지 않고 있다고만 생각하던 문제였다. 주로 초고속만 생각한 결과다.(그런데 이것말고 또 있다는 의혹이다)
그러나 중저속을 생각한다면, 지금이라도 도입가능하다는 것이다. 사람들이 초고속만 생각해서 생긴 문제가 아니냐는 것이 내 추정이다.
일단 건설이 되면, 바퀴등과 같은 소모품이 필요 없고, 유지보수 비용이 거의 들지 않는다는 장점이 있다. 바퀴 식 구동방식은, 당연히 마찰이 심하게 생기므로, 시간이 지날수록, 바퀴도 닳고, 프레임이나 충격 완화 쇼바, 스프링도 손상을 입게 되므로, 늘 점검해야 하고, 교체 수리해야 한다. 이 비용이 만만치 않다는 점이다. 그러나 바퀴가 없는 자기부상 열차의 경우는, 떠서 달리므로, 마찰로 인한 부품, 차체의 손상이 거의 없다는 점이다.
기존 바퀴 방식의 열차들은 매일 같이 바퀴나 쇼바, 프레임, 스프링 등 주요 차체 점검을 해야 하고, 주기적으로 부품을 교체해 주어야 한다는 점이다. 만일 자기부상열차 방식으로 바뀌면, 이렇게 할 일이 없어진다는 점에서 그들이 계속 이것을 고집하고 있었던 것은 아닌지 의심해 볼 필요도 있어 보인다.

KTX 문제점
One of the matters for KTX is more uncomfortable seat than SAEMAUL Trains. I remember it that the past SAEMAUL express train installed on the best compostable & luxurious seat each train. Besides, most of facilities inner KTX are lagging behind & slightly outmoded state, even though getting on it need very expensive.

When you go to Japan, it is a must that you take the Shinkansenat least 1 time. This train is comfortable like business class and very fast too. People from Europe can compare it with the TGV/Eurostar/Thalys, but the Shinkansens look cooler ;p.
But I've really begun to admire the amazing feats that the Japanese have done for the Shinkansen lines. Yesterday I followed the San-yo Shinkansen line from Osaka to Hakata (from central Japan to West-Japan) on Google Earth and I was totally amazed. The first Shinkansen line was made from Tokyo to Osaka in the 1960s (the Tokaido Shinkansen), but the the extension to Hakata came in the early 1970s.
The route from Tokyo to Osaka doesn't have many mountains so they took the shortest route along major cities. Already on this route many of the tracks for the Shinkansen are laid on bridges, over land, water and cities. (the Japanese really know how to build bridges, as they really build almost every train line on bridges or underground).
But the route for the San-yo Shinkansen to Hakata is truly amazing. They litterally took the shortest route between major cities along the way while also avoiding putting track in dense residential areas. But this route means going through many many mountains, as this part of Japan has quite a lot of mountains. This means building many long tunnels and more bridges in between. This must have been an engineers dream and hell to accomplish this extraordinary feat. Oh, and the route is about 600km long. The total route from Tokyo to Hakata is almost 1200km which can be done at the fastest in 5 hours using the Nozomi service, which stops at the least number of stations. But the Nozomi is of course the most expensive one, and not covered by the Japan Rail Pass. They can only take the Hikari or Kodama (which stops in every station) service. Only the Nozomi does the whole route from Tokyo to Hakata without transfer to another service.
