박근혜 대통령 즉각 퇴진과 헌재의 탄핵심판 인용, 황교안 대통령 권한대행 국무총리 사퇴 등을 촉구하는 8차 주말 촛불집회가 17일 서울을 비롯한 전국 곳곳에서 열렸다.
'박근혜정권 퇴진 비상국민행동'(퇴진행동)은 이날 오후 5시 서울 광화문 광장에서 '박근혜 즉각 퇴진 공범처벌·적폐청산의 날' 집회를 개최했다.
날씨 등을 고려해 이날 집회는 전과 달리 사전행진 없이 초대가수 공연으로 사전행사를 연 뒤 시국발언과 영상 상영, 공연으로 짜인 본 행사로 이어졌다.
참가자들은 전날 박 대통령 측이 헌재에 제출한 답변서에서 "탄핵 이유가 없다"고 밝힌 것을 규탄하며 박 대통령이 즉각 퇴진해야 하고, 헌재가 신속히 심리를 진행해 하루빨리 탄핵심판을 인용해야 한다고 주장했다.
퇴진행동은 "국민의 명령은 '박근혜 즉각 퇴진'뿐"라며 "지금 대통령 행세를 하며 '박근혜 없는 박근혜 체제'를 강행하는 황교안 총리는 즉각 사퇴하고, 헌재는 한치 머뭇거림 없이 박 대통령을 신속히 파면해야 한다"고 주장했다.
주최 측은 본 행사 시작 시각인 오후 8시 기준으로 광화문 일대에 연인원(누적인원) 65만명이 모인 것으로 추산했다. 경찰은 오후 5시 즈음해 일시점 운집인원을 4만명 가량으로 본 것으로 알려졌다.
본 행사가 끝난 뒤 오후 6시30분께부터는 청와대와 총리공관, 헌재 방면으로 4개 경로를 이용한 행진과 집회가 이어졌다. 행진을 마친 시민들은 광화문광장에 모여 정리 집회를 가졌다.
앞서 법원은 퇴진행동이 경찰의 금지·조건통보에 대해 신청한 집행정지를 일부 받아들여 총리공관 100ｍ 앞(우리은행 삼청동영업점 앞)과 헌재 100ｍ 앞(안국역 4번 출구)에서 오후 10시 30분까지 집회와 행진을 허용했다.
청와대에서 100ｍ 떨어진 효자치안센터 앞은 오후 5시 30분까지, 팔판동 126맨션 앞은 오후 10시 30분까지 집회와 행진이 가능하다. 청운효자동 주민센터 앞 등 청와대에서 200∼400여ｍ 떨어진 곳도 오후 10시 30분까지 허용됐다.
전국 곳곳에서도 집회가 열렸다. 주최측 추산 참가 인원은 부산 2만명, 광주 3만명, 대전 1만명, 대구 5000명, 울산 7000명 등이다.
